October 8, 2019 The Worlds 2019 song for League of Legends is out now.
Riot Games has made a tradition of debuting new songs featuring established artists at the League of Legends World Championship every year. That song usually precedes the tournament, and has never previously launched later than the end of September. Phoenix missed that timeframe by over a week, but the League of Legends Worlds song is finally here.
Phoenix comes in collaboration with Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza. The latter artist previously contributed to the 2017 Worlds anthem, Legends Never Die. The music video, which you can see below, features a blend of animation and live action video featuring the pros Caps, Faker, and rookie.
“Both the song and the video are all about overcoming deep, personal fears that players have faced in moments of defeat,” Riot says in a press release. “League of Legends pro players are often confronted with a multitude of challenges, whether it be a serious loss or publicly facing fans after a crushing defeat. In highlighting these three specific pros (Caps, Faker, Rookie), the video focuses on the obstacles they’ve had to overcome and what it took to become some of the greatest League of Legends players in the world.”
